Dr Jenny Freeman

Jenny Freeman is a Reader in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Plymouth University in Devon.  She qualified as a physiotherapist in Perth Western Australia in 1983. Her clinical expertise is in the area of adult neurology, having worked at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London for 10 years. Jenny completed her PhD in 1997 at the Institute of Neurology, University College London. Her project investigated the effectiveness of rehabilitation in people with multiple sclerosis. Her research since that time has involved clinical trials and laboratory based studies investigating the process and outcomes of uni and multi-disciplinary rehabilitation interventions, and the mechanisms underpinning disability, with a particular focus on people with multiple sclerosis. Jenny was involved in the setting up of the Physiotherapy Programme at Plymouth University, and since then she been active in increasing research capacity within the School of Health Professions. Her role involves teaching and research supervision at both undergraduate and post graduate level. In the MS arena she has led innovations to engage clinical practitioners to define research questions and implement clinical research; and has been involved in a range of initiatives aimed at improving care in this patient group.
