Dr Jo Adams
Jo Adams is a Associate Professor at the University of Southampton. Jo received her PhD in 2005 from the University of Southampton for completing a fully powered randomised controlled trial into the effectiveness of static hand splinting in early rheumatoid arthritis. She has since developed her research portfolio specifically exploring self-management techniques in musculoskeletal conditions. Jo’s research team was awarded a silver medal for innovative work in applying motion analysis (developed by biomechanists) for people using small hand joint splints. She has since developed work alongside rheumatologists, engineers, educationalists and patient partners in exploring health literacy and facilitating self-management of long term chronic conditions. Jo has published many papers with undergraduate, post graduates and full time clinicians and enjoys working alongside individuals to explore clinically applied research topics.
